Bowled Over by Trash is a thematic exhibition of the whimsical sculptural work of Eugene artist Tim Boyden. The exhibition opens on November 15th and will run through December 30th. The public is invited to attend a reception on November 17th from 2 pm until 5 pm. BRING Gallery is located at BRING Recycling's new Planet Improvement Center, 4446 Franklin Boulevard in Glenwood.
Using recycled materials such as bowling balls, trashed guitars, kitchen implements and other discarded items, Boyden creates works of art that are sometimes functional and always full of joy. Tim creates his work almost entirely from materials found at BRING Recycling, scavenged while dumpster diving, or bought from local thrift stores. Included in this exhibition are a series on bowling ball lamps, hubcap chandeliers, a bowling ball theme coffee table as well as numerous other funky and fun curiosities.
Boyden is regionally known for his creative furniture work done under the WIldwood Designs moniker. His art and furniture designs have been exhibited in Maine, Colorado and Oregon. Presently Boyden’s work can be found on display at Opus6 in Eugene, Kebanu in Bend, Flying Turtle in Oakridge and Real Mother Goose in Portland. In addition Boyden opens his home studio to the public on Fairmount Boulevard twice a year (in December and May.)
